30th September 2016. WIA Reform Group – News Letter Number 22

Directors Andrew Smith & Paul Simmonds to visit VK5 and VK3 clubs

Please spread the word and attend one of these meetings if you are able.

Good morning,

As we reported last month, WIA Director Andrew Smith has “gone public” to alert members to the scandalous state of affairs within the Board of the WIA.  The Board has now acknowledged that there are serious problems and are preparing to call a General Meeting to vote on a much needed audit.

Unfortunately, the majority bloc of the board will delay and stonewall this audit at every opportunity.  They will play on the cost angle, which is, of course, richly ironic.  Their sudden concern for member’s funds is patently transparent.

Every member needs to hear why we need this audit.

The two Directors made the following announcement:

You may be aware that at a recent Board meeting, a motion was proposed for a financial audit and review of operations of the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA). The motion was amended to arrange financial costings of such a review, and that due to the cost involved, the motion be put to WIA members at a General meeting (a date and venue to be advised soon).

On Monday 10th October 2016, WIA Directors Andrew Smith VK6AS and Paul Simmonds VK5PAS, will be making themselves av…ailable to all VK5 amateurs to answer a variety of questions including their concerns re the running of the WIA, the motion put forward, and the general meeting.

The venue will be the Blackwood Community Centre, 4 Young Street, Blackwood. Commencement time of the talk will be 7.30 p.m. sharp. Doors will open at the Community Centre at 7.00 p.m.

We hope to see you there.

On Tuesday 11th October, 2016 a talk will be delivered at the Reidy Park Centre, O’Halloran Terrace, Mount Gambier. Commencement time will be 7.30 p.m., with doors opening at 7.00 p.m.

If you are interested in attending this presentation, please email Col VK5HCF to confirm your attendance. Col’s email is vk5hcf@wia.org.au. It is hoped that VK5 & VK3 amateurs from just over the border will attend this talk.

On Wednesday 12th October 2016 a talk will be delivered at the Barmera Scout Group, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Barmera. Commencement time will be 7.30 p.m., with doors opening at 7.00 p.m.

Please advise Ivan VK5HS if you are attending this talk. Ivan’s email is ivan@hfradiosolutions.com.au. It is hoped that VK5 & VK3 amateurs from just over the border will attend this talk.

It is also hoped that in the near future a talk will be delivered in Melbourne to VK3 amateurs.

Andrew VK6AS & Paul VK5PAS.

Please get along to one of these presentations to hear what Paul and Andrew have to say.  It’s also your opportunity to ask questions.  Where are the President and remaining board members in all of this?  Why don’t they attend and promote transparency of both sides of this story?

In the meantime, write an email to the Editor of AR (editor@wia.org.au) and the National News Broadcast (nationalnews@wia.org.au) service asking that they publish the “other side of the story”  (please copy us in on feedback@wiarg.org). Only with your voice will we overcome these draconian measures being taken by the President to censor free speech.

Please forward this email to your local club and friends.  Take a copy when you meet local amateurs for a coffee.  If they contact Feedback@wiarg.org we can send them a newsletter direct.
